PUNE: It''s not just the venues of winter holidays that are changing.
The conventional concept of a long vacation is out and short breaks (several of them) are in, says Ram Kumar, head of human resources at HSBC Software Development India Pvt Ltd. No wonder, weekend getaway guidebooks are a rage.
"Short breaks rejuvenate you, help you de-stress. People like to take a couple of days off, combine it with a festive holiday or weekend and drive off (five to eight hours or so)." On one such failed voyage to Goa, Kumar discovered the Tarkarli beach, Malvan.
Further off, Dubai and Far-East make interesting destinations for the family, because "There''s shopping."
